What is Click Hijacking?
Click hijacking is a type of mobile click and install fraud that sends fraudulent click reports moments after a real click occurs. Usually triggered by malware it’s commonly hidden in apps that look completely legitimate or apps downloaded via third-party app stores.
How This Works:
When a legitimate click is detected, the malware sends a false click report from a competing network, effectively hijacking the click and any resulting installs.
To identify click hijacking, use your raw data reports to identify sources sending clicks seconds after the previously recorded click from a competing source.
Only attribution providers with multi-touch reporting, like Protect360, can identify click hijacking.
