What is IP Address?
An IP Address is the digital “location” signature of a user or device. While using a WiFi connection, the IP address will be defined by the location of the device providing the WiFi signal. While connected to a 4G internet service the IP address will be provided by the cellular carrier and will show the location of the carrier’s cellular tower providing the service.
Why is This Important:
Fraudsters often “spoof” (change or hide) their IP address to make their clicks and installs appear to be coming from other locations. Anti-fraud solutions blacklist IP addresses, blocking all installs from IP addresses known to perpetrate fraud, as well as anonymous IP addresses.
